What happened to Future Snowboarding Magazine?

That is a question I may have answered while doing some SEO research for Snowrev today.  I found a link reference coming from a website called actionsports blips.  The site is a news aggregation site that allows the site administrators to insert popular rss feeds that displays the top content from active websites.  Its another form of the website known as Digg.com.  This type of website can benefit websites when there are a significant amount of referring links incoming, but when the site gets no action, its simply acts as a hosting solution for an outgoing rss file.

As I furthered my research to see what this site was all about and more importantly, to find out who is hosting the Snowrev content I was surprised to see that it was the former owner of Future Snowboard Magazine.

Late last Spring Future experienced an abrupt end to their Snowboard Channel.  My guess for the reason of this immediate discontinuance of the magazine is because they were seeking new channels that would allow them to stay involved in snowboarding.  This is not to say that there is anything wrong with this type of website application but it was a surprise to see this happen.  I was also surprised to see that the aggregation’s top content for all action sports was Snowrev based.  The question still remains though about what really happened to Future?

I hear that the former employees are doing good.  Which is good to hear because it is a painful experience for anyone that this situation happens to.  Especially in this critical economic environment.  I will refrain from naming names but a few of the former Future employees are continuing to develop real content through a channel called snowboarder.com.  In my opinion this crew is better off and I wish them the best of luck to their Future, and about the former Future, well that’s a thing of the past.  If you didn’t quite understand that last paragraph feel free to read it again.

Please bear in mind that this blog update is opinion based.
