NC Productions “Almost Dead”

“Almost Dead” is this years release by NC Productions, a crew that grew out of Northwest and has been putting together some of the best am based videos in the last few years. NC has been gaining some well deserved recognition in the past few years for the quality of riding in their videos and for bringing several, at the time, little known ams the film exposure they needed to move up to the next level. Former NC standouts such as Austin Smith and Robbie Walker have gone on to build quite a name for themselves with ender parts in “We’re People Too!” and “These Days” respectively. Needless to say I was really stoked when Leland McNamara, filmer and editor of NC, sent me over a copy of the video to check out.
The major reason NC separates themselves from most other am heavy videos is that they have a balance of quality jumping and rail riding; and not just jumping a perfectly groomed park jump either, we’re talking legitimate backcountry jumps. This isn’t to say though that the guys at NC don’t like handle a park shoot but you won’t find footage from your average park jumps; Mt. Shasta, Whitefish and others hooked these guys up with massive features to film this past season, and the footage returns the favor.
Standout parts are found in Kyle Miller and Lucas Wilson’s consistent all around style and skills and Nicki Weiss and Skylar Thornton’s jumping. The whole video though is packed with good riding. If you are the kind of person who usually only checks out the Mack Dawg and Standard flicks each year, you might not be that stoked on NC’s “Almost Dead” but your also probably not to concerned with what’s really going on in snowboarding. There are some very good all around riders coming up; this video is packed with them, and considering the riding, you should be hearing a lot more from them soon.
