Bonfire has once again brought back the Pipe 2 Pipe contest back to Mt. Hood and Windells. Tim Windell for three days out of the summer opens the gates to the public after an all day rail jam event on-hill. Then for an evening of free dinner for everybody, followed up by an insane jam format skate contest, where the skaters seem to come out of the woodwork to haul ass around the newly renovated BOB indoor park at Windells. Along with all the other new concrete features that have been placed around the whole camp, making it skateboarding paradise. We had just got there in the RV a little after 5:00 and there were people everywhere skating the new concrete and when the pro division went down all the skaters there threw down. There will be plenty more coming from Mt. Hood all summer long with the Snowrev RV posted up in Govy giving you the inside scoop.

January in Utah
By Joe Carter
Photos by Joe Carter

In January I’d usually be on non stop mission looking for some new pow. However like a lot of other places around the country right now, the snow in Utah has not been falling the past couple weeks. The best part about Salt Lake is that you can just got to Park City and get some good park days in and catch some airtime. All three parks are up and already much better than they were last season. The pick and shovel park has has got some small jibs and a really fun jump line along side the enormous pipe that has been getting cut to perfection every night. The Jonesy’s park is now fully open with tons of features to make your legs rubber at the end of your day. Then when your nice and warmed up you can head over to the Kings Crown park to get down on the big jumps. That unlike last season have nice long smooth takeoffs to put you up there. Then at the bottom you head into the 60 foot jump to slow down and hit the rail feature with some stairs.

Then If you don’t feel like driving up route 80 you can still have an awesome time just cruising with some friends at the famous rail gardens. Matty Mo, Austin Granger, Ben Bogart and I jumped in the car for a five minute car ride to ride the double line for a few hours right after the Bozwreck dudes had a session.

Of course we have also had our fair share of raging too. Laura Hadar was nice enough to open her shop FICE up and have a party in downtown stocked up with plenty of Sailor Jerry rum to get everyone at the party nice and fucked up. Then there’s a couple more photos from a night at Pat Fenelon’s house where people were getting some fresh stick and poke tats and rest of the night, I just don’t rememer for some reason.

- Getting up to Park City for the first time this year.

- Parking lot view of the Pick And Shovel park and the Eagle Superpipe

- Dan Brisse is one gnarly guy on a snowboard. Stomping a quick cab seven.

- I don’t think halfpipes get bigger than this thing.

- Elena Hight hiking the pipe with some more of the US team.

- View at the top of the King Crown jump lines perfect jumps

- Wyatt Caldwell pokes out a front 3 on the first kicker.

- Caleb Flowers takes a different approach and plants an ally-oop andrecht on the tranny that is also cut on the sides of the jumps. It would be sick if all resorts did that.

- John Steward tests out the 60 foot bottom jumps with a backside seven melon.

- Jon Jon again back 50-50.

- Torah Bright and Jake Welch taking a break from some hectic schedules to just take some laps.

- Jonesy’s park. As you read the there is now more open above.

- John Steward backside nosepress

- Same trick, different spot, really really pressed. Ben Bogart comitted at the Rail Gardens.

- Matty Mo comes back to the rail gardens after breaking a rib the last time here and puts down a front board on the double line.

-The spliff pass, maybe the best trick done all day.

- Chris Eacott from Australia grabbing that Bozwreck board stale on the second rail.

- Austin Granger. I think this was a front lip 270.

- Matty Mo’s face looks like he’s pushing out a turd really hard, but he’s just getting into a frontside 180 nosepress.

-It sucks when people bogart your chicks. It’s sick though when Ben Bogart puts down some back lips.

- Mac Spedale feeling the free Sailor Jerry. That shit’s good to the last drop.

-Grete, Louie, Elliot, and Mac downtown at FICE

- Nick Dirks wants to do this to your babies.

- Evan Lefebvre hurting from getting that rusty needle in there for his new Skeleton Crew tattoo.

- That’s it Evan. Pound that SoCo to forget about that shit.

Mid December in Utah
By Joe Carter
Photos Joe Carter

Finally, all that snow that Utah claims, to be the best has started to puke all over us. So the parties have slowed down. No, that’s not true at all actually. We have been spending most of our time shredding new pow at Brighton almost everyday. We have Charlie Friedland and Scott Blum making visit to SLC ride with us too. Then of course heading back to Salt Lake City for whatever the night might bring.

- Right off the lift and a five minute hike for untracked runs

-Top of Crest Lift taking a few laps with the Brighton Park crew, Evan LeFebvre, and Charlie Friedland

-Taking a little mid run break in a little hut with Kyle Lopiccolo, Nick Dirks, Evan and Elliot Levitt

- Kyle Lopiccolo sending an indy noseboner off a quick natural tranny finder

- Charlie Friedland taking a break from finals just in time to haul ass through all the new snow at Brighton.

- Kyle again poking out a stalefish on this rock to rock landing shortly after he poked out a turd in the woods.

-A backflip over a gap got the best of Sam Spedale again. Just like the Bone Zone.

- I’m no hippy but that’s good stuff

- That might look like a Mohawk but there’s some balls on the back of Scott Blum’s head. I’m not very good at cutting hair.

- Bottoms up. Utah beer sucks.

- Who is that masked man? Scott really getting his night off on the right foot.

- Now I know how it feels to be Sam Spedale, it’s wierd.

- Elliot not feeling so good in the back of Andrew Miller’s truck on the way to party downtown at FICE.
