Why doesn’t our government seem to understand that when it comes to global warming, we simply can’t delay any longer?

Some species simply can’t wait.

Tell your Legislators there is no excuse! They need to pass global warming legislation THIS YEAR.>>

Scientists tell us that we must stabilize the concentration of carbon dioxide pollution in the earth’s atmosphere at 450 parts per million in order to avoid the catastrophic effects of global warming.

To reach this target, America needs to cut its CO2 pollution by 80% by 2050, which is a 2% reduction per year if we start NOW.

The longer we delay, the deeper we have to cut to hit our 80% reduction target by 2050.

With your help, we’ve set the stage for global warming action this fall, but victory is far from assured.

So far, 50,000 people have helped keep the heat on Washington by urging Congress to pass comprehensive global warming legislation this year.

But, we need to double that to keep the pressure on.

Will you do your part by taking action now?

Our efforts are making a difference. After months of inaction, we are beginning to see historic progress in the Senate.

Moments ago, a key Senate subcommittee passed the Lieberman-Warner America Climate Security Act with bipartisan support.

The America Climate Security Act would establish a mandatory cap to dramatically reduce global warming pollution from the electric utility, oil and manufacturing industries, while at the same time protecting the economy and American consumers.

The bill now moves to the full Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, where action could come before Thanksgiving – furthering its potential to pass the full Senate.

Our job over the next few weeks is to protect and strengthen the bill – including, among other things, total emissions reductions – and work with members of Congress to pass it this year.

But, to do so, we need to maintain constant grassroots pressure. Every member of Congress needs to hear from every concerned citizen in order to keep up the pressure for action.

Will you help by taking action today?

When you’re done, please pass the word on to your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to join with us in Operation Climate Vote.

Global warming is one of the biggest challenges of our time, and polar bears are already suffering the effects. Birth rates are falling and fewer cubs are surviving as Arctic sea ice melts away.

A recent study by the U.S. Geological Survey shows that critical polar bear habitat is in decline, and much of it will be gone by mid-century. Unless we do something now to curb global warming, this critical arctic habitat may completely vanish. Please take a moment to join fellow environmentalists nationwide and let’s speak out for critical arctic habitat now»
