When April comes your probably not thinking about riding any powder. In Utah the last week it’s been nothing but it. All day we rode Brighton in more than knee deep pow that was amazing. This was the last week at Brighton with some of the best spring snow you can ask for. Too bad most of the resorts around Salt Lake close early, when this year the late season has been going so strong. Here are a photos of a day cruising around at Brighton. Then taking a hike high up in the hills around the city for sunset. Then last thing I would usually do. Go to a Utah Jazz basketball game. Giving you a solid day of what you can do in the Mormon City.
- Not what you would expect in the middle of April.
- Looks like I just farted and Mac Spedale just smelled it by the face he’s making.
- It’s kinda hard to get photos when it’s snowing this hard, but here is Mac finding a spot through the trees, over the rocks and into some fresh.
- Cruising up Crest to find plenty of untouched snow.
- Middle of winter at the top.
- After a amazing April pow day we took a hike to check this out. Not too bad.
- I am the last person you would see at a Jazz game, but we tried it out for about 20 minutes.

Most of the time when you think of snowboarding in April you have slush, sun, dirt patches, and maybe even a few beers on a sun deck. However if you were lucky enough to be in Utah last week you experienced none of that. Everywhere at Brighton had knee deep pow for a few days with that light snow this place is known for. This day we headed up with Kyle Lopiccolo, Joseph Arguello, and met up with Matt Piaseki to ride the Milly lift for another day of late season powder. Brighton will be open till the 19th so make sure you get up here, since there is definitely no shortage of snow as you’ll be able to see in the photos.
- We got a little bit of a late start, but with snow coming down all day nothing was tracked.
- (L to R) Kyle, Joseph, and myself. You know your having a good time with snow in the goggles.
- Joseph laying into some of that late season blower pow.
- Matt Piaseki hauls ass through some tight trees to poke out an indy on the house jump into a fresh landing between the pine trees.
- Kyle hauls ass down that runway do his best Ben Hinkley impression.
- Joseph pops off over some rocks on his way to the whiteroom.
- Matt, another indy off a cliff in a different done.
- Same drop, different run.
- Kyle coming down with some speed and consequence if he made a wrond turn to the right.
This past week in Utah we have been riding nothing short of the Greatest snow on earth. After picking up over 3 feet (and counting) in the last five days the conditions have been the best all season. Being in Vegas for SIAand on the SNOWREV RVfor the past two and half weeks it was nice to get back home and recharge the batteries. What better way to do that then a soul shred session at Brighton topped off with a mellow 18″ that fell overnight. As much as I love to shoot photos there is nothing better than leaving the midget (camera pack) at home and just ride with friends. All of us here at the Revolution make it a point to shred as much as possible. Luckily I had brought along my trusty little G10 to snap a few photos and video of the day. Enjoy and go get your own!
- Mellow OB hike to find the goods.
- Wolverine Circe behind Brighton. Still have yet to check this off my list of things to do this season.
Brighton for the past week has been amazing. With all the new snow we have had a few days of solid weather in to get in some sick powder days. To make it even better the Millicent lift is now open making endless pow days after a storm. With that new snow the avalanche conditions have been pretty sketchy. Two lucky kids found that out the hard way after one of them cruised down a huge face after a huge slide. The kid ended up walking out of the mess, somehow. The next day both kids were at the free avalanche awareness clinic held at the Brighton lodge. For those of you that missed out on the opportunity you have two more chances this year to get some new knowledge, or even just to brush up a little. The dates are February 5th and March 5th at 5:00 PM. So put that date on your calender now.
- Andrew Miller and Mark Dangler not making turns to bring you the first Brighton Bunch Episode.
- No shortage of people to shred with on the Millicent traverse.
- If you want to ride pow a few days after a storm Brighton is the place to get your fix, while everything else is tracked.
- One of the many awesome zones that has countless natural terrain features. Mark and Andrew getting ready for Josh Jarvis to send it for the Brighton Bunch.
- Kyle Lopiccolo looking like he’s storing nuts for winter in that cheek. Check out the Kyle Lopiccolo vs. Tranny Finder to see how he broke some of his face.
- Insane slide on Pioneer Ridge. It’s insane that the kid caught in that walked out of it.
- Here is the kid’s board that got caught up avalanche. Luckily it was the only thing that got split in two after hitting a tree.
- Good attendance at the avalanche clinic. It’s really cool that Brighton does that for free. Check out the Know Before You Go blog lower on the page. Then make sure you come to the next one if you didn’t make it.
We have a Utah update brewing in the works as I type, however for now, here is Kyle Lopicolo vs. Tranny Finder.
We were back in this good zone at Brighton the other day and saw this tranny finder jump we could get going pretty quickly. Since its still kind of early season its a bit more sketchy then it would be mid to late season with more snow filling it in but Kyle Lopicolo was determined to get a method on it. The first try didn’t go too bad, and looked like he could work the landing out. Try two and three though were a different story; Instead of Kyle finding tranny the tranny found him. Kyle did find his knee to his face though accompanied by one bruised up face. Here’s the second and third tries. Tranny Finder: 1 Kyle: 0

Finally, all that snow that Utah claims, to be the best has started to puke all over us. So the parties have slowed down. No, that’s not true at all actually. We have been spending most of our time shredding new pow at Brighton almost everyday. We have Charlie Friedland and Scott Blum making visit to SLC ride with us too. Then of course heading back to Salt Lake City for whatever the night might bring.
- Right off the lift and a five minute hike for untracked runs
-Top of Crest Lift taking a few laps with the Brighton Park crew, Evan LeFebvre, and Charlie Friedland
-Taking a little mid run break in a little hut with Kyle Lopiccolo, Nick Dirks, Evan and Elliot Levitt
- Kyle Lopiccolo sending an indy noseboner off a quick natural tranny finder
- Charlie Friedland taking a break from finals just in time to haul ass through all the new snow at Brighton.
- Kyle again poking out a stalefish on this rock to rock landing shortly after he poked out a turd in the woods.
-A backflip over a gap got the best of Sam Spedale again. Just like the Bone Zone.
- I’m no hippy but that’s good stuff
- That might look like a Mohawk but there’s some balls on the back of Scott Blum’s head. I’m not very good at cutting hair.
- Bottoms up. Utah beer sucks.
- Who is that masked man? Scott really getting his night off on the right foot.
- Now I know how it feels to be Sam Spedale, it’s wierd.
- Elliot not feeling so good in the back of Andrew Miller’s truck on the way to party downtown at FICE.

There is nothing better than the feeling of getting home after the first hike of the season. Food tastes better, the couch feels more comfortable and the sleep that night is nothing less than satisfying. After way to long of a dry spell a small system rolled through the Wasatch this week and the surrounding resorts picked up 6-12 inches of new. Excited for the new snow the crew headed up to Brighton in search of some pow and hopes of enough snow to hike a ridge or two. We had a great day of mellow cruising ending with a short hike off crest lift the top of pioneer. We dropped the bowl for making a few good turns and proceeded to make a boot pack for a 20 min hike up a decent untouched east facing slope. That run was the best of the day and we were spent. Just a typical weekday shredding with friends in Utah.
The forecast is looking very nice through the weekend. Stay tuned next week for a major Utah update and some brand new features dropping very soon!

Finally were back in Utah after a crazy trip to Mammoth. To make it even better there is some new snow in the forecast. We headed up to Brighton to meet up with some people to ride all day and I took the camera out every once in a while to snap a few photos.
- Starting off the day on the top of Crest with some much needed snow starting to come down.
- Eric Fernandez showing you some of that base, half cab pressing backside 180 out.
- Milly area starting to fill in a little bit more.
- Cryptkeeper, Joseph and Kyle hot lapping all day.
- Look out for Bode Merrill’s interview coming soon on snowrev.
- Bode showing you the right way to do a nosepress.
- Eric Fernandez, Cody Comrie, Joseph and Kyle Lopiccolo.
- Kyle locks into a frontboard cruising through the park.
- Joseph puts down a screaming toeside turn leaving a solid rooster tail behind him.
- Nick Russell and Bode Merrill with snow starting to come down harder.
- After a mellow 5 minute hike we are about to get some good turns at the top of crest.
- Jared Hadi reaping the benefits of moving to Utah getting an early season pow slash.
- More snow heading in
- Heading back down to canyon for a long night ahead.
- Tuesday’s at Ribio’s is the spot in Sugarhouse with dollar fish tacos.
- Amazing way to end a solid day of shredding and to kick the night off.
A small cold system rolled through Salt Lake and the Wasatch front this weekend bringing 1-3 inches to the high country. The first dusting of snow in Utah was September 1st and then again mid September. This is the first snow in October while the end of the week calls for more snow through weekend and into next week. The fall colors are truly amazing right now. Great cold crisp weather for some hiking, bouldering and scenic safety meetings. Hopefully the ground will stay cold and this next system will allowed us to dust of the shred sticks and get some preseason action going. Winters right around the corner… Stay tuned!
