The Hiking has Begun
Photos Andrew Miller & Joe Carter

There is nothing better than the feeling of getting home after the first hike of the season.  Food tastes better, the couch feels more comfortable and the sleep that night is nothing less than satisfying.  After way to long of a dry spell a small system rolled through the Wasatch this week and the surrounding resorts picked up 6-12 inches of new.  Excited for the new snow the crew headed up to Brighton in search of some pow and hopes of enough snow to hike a ridge or two.  We had a great day of mellow cruising ending with a short hike off crest lift the top of pioneer.  We dropped the bowl for making a few good turns and proceeded to make a boot pack for a 20 min hike up a decent untouched east facing slope.  That run was the best of the day and we were spent.  Just a typical weekday shredding with friends in Utah.

The forecast is looking very nice through the weekend.  Stay tuned next week for a major Utah update and some brand new features dropping very soon!

Lonnie Kauk: The Standard Snowboard Show
Photos Andrew Miller

As everyone should know we have nothing but love for our homie Lonnie Kauk here at the Revolution.  We have supported him from day one and he was actually the first Snowboard Revolution Interview ever.  Johnny Centi did Lonnie’s Interview back in 2005.  It’s a great to look back at your roots, where you started, the journey and how you have grown and evolved into what you are now.  Now 2005 wasn’t that long ago but alot has changed for us (snowrev) and Lonnie both in postivie ways.

After having a heavy season riding for DC, competing while still filming with Standard and a total slaughter fest at Superpark Lonnie had a pretty amazing year.  The Standard Snowboard Show just did a whole episode on Lonnie that aired on fuel tv.  It turned out pretty fucking sick and were are pumped for Lonnie and what this next years brings him! Now watch Lonnie’s whole episode below..

Matty Mo Makin’ News

By: Mark Dangler

We were up cruisin around some Western, NY spots when off to the side of the road we spotted a big rickety old toboggan chute leading down into a sledding hill. Matty Mo, pointed it out and I pulled over so we could give it a try. It was actually pretty mellow but kind of just an interesting shot.

Anyway we get out of the car and start checking it out and right as Matty is about to walk up the chute to strap in and drop some news reporters roll up. They seemed really interested in the boardin’ about to go down since they were showing up to do a story on how the town wouldn’t be opening the chutes this winter because of lack of funding. Matty scored a big time hollywood interview with local news reporter, Alysha Palumbo, a true grade A thoroughbred, and then we were on the 5 o’clock news Buffalo, NY’s channel 4. Here’s a video…

I’m In A New York State of Mind

by Mark Dangler

The snow came early in Western New York and it hit hard. Lake effect snows off of Lake Erie dropped anywhere up to two and a half feet in some spots so we rallied a crew of New Yawkas, some driving in from a couple of hours away, some flying in from accross the country to get the season going and start loggin’ some shots even before December hit. Matty Mo, Ben Farrell, Maxwell Scott, Steve Pelc and Ricky Beuler made up the crew. Everyone was eager to get at it meaning sessioning through the day and well into the night before stopping back to see what was going on at our hotel’s bar, the legendary “Tootsies”.  Of course there will be a legit full story coming up in a few days but in the mean time I figured I would post up a few screen grabs of what we have been up to.

- Matty Mo with a proper front board right before headin’ back to meet up with some dames at Tootsies

- Steve Pelc looks like Bear Grylls from “Man vs. Wild”. Switch 5050 through the closeout to drop.

- Ben coming up on a little neck beard, it’s a common fashion in these parts. We even saw a woman sporting a heavy one in a Randolph, NY gas station

- Because when the session involves various tricks over the second set someones got to get a method shot. Maxwell provides.

- And the bearded ladies go wild…Ben with a serious switch backside nosepress.

- Everyone got a shot, now lets head out of the zone and get back to Tootsies.

Thirtytwo Sole Technologies Headquarters
By Joe Carter
For almost 15 years now THIRTYTWO has been keeping those little toes and feet warm and comfy making some of the best boots in snowboarding. A little while back I had met up with the Marketing Manager Brian Cook to get a little run down on what went down over at the Sole Tech headquarters in Lake Forest California. I will tell you this, if you thought that making snowboarding boots was easy you’d be wrong. These people over here have made it their lives to put in the work testing new ways to make gear better for all of us. The STI (Sole Technology Institute) is like a laboratory for boot and shoe scientists. There are even crazy machines they have rigged up to test everything you could imagine. Along with a brand new indoor park in the works for more “Testing” for the skate teams. Keep in mind that the etnies park a stones throw away is fucking huge. This season you will also start seeing some new THIRTYTWO outerwear on the hill as they launch that with has JP Walker, Stian Solberg, and Joe Sexton rocking the gear. Keeping the focus more on the function other than fashion hype to keep you riding longer instead of thawing out in the lodge.
- Right when you walk in sick art, featuring artists that have worked with Sole Tech.
- A view of this seasons boots in the Thirtytwo showroom.
- All the brands have different themed showrooms. Here is Emerica.
- A gander at the Es showroom.
- Brian Cook right before he jumped on that dirtbike and did a mile long wheelie. Ok that’s not true,
but that would be badass.
- Some of the warehouse that they keep all the old booths from tradeshows.
Think about how many drinks were consumed in those things. A shitload.
- New training grounds for Malto, Taylor, and TV’s biggest pussy. Yeah I’m hating on Sheckler, but not his skating.
- Look at this crazy contraption. Kickflip machine testing the material on Mikey Taylor’s new shoe.
- Brian Cook showing us more inventions around they use to test EVERYTHING at the STI.
- There are a lot of snowboarding companies out there owned and operated by some corparate goon making bank off snowboarding. Sole Tech is owned by one person that started it out of the love for skateboarding, and snowboarding. Keeping the environment in mind with solar panels helping to power some of these buildings. You can’t say that for most companies out there.
- Being in this area also has it’s perks. Thanks Brian for showing us around.
