At the time snowboarding movies were all the same and boring, Pierre Wikberg changed the whole perspective. Pierre is one of the creators of Robot Food movies and he also made the DC snowboarding movies. Pierre lives between San Diego and Sweden.

Last week I had sushi with him and we talked about DC, Eric Koston, Matt Hensley, Ocean Howell, American Girls, Barcelona, Art, difference between USA and Europe and the top ten pros ever Terje, Nate Cole, Danny Way etc. We had a blast, here are some of the pictures. Don’t forget to check out his blog that he update every day with quality content!

My friend Shayne Pospisil told me the other day that he was driving to Alaska. I said damn you are so lucky, have fun, stay safe. A couple days later my friend Mark Sullivan sent me an email saying “Yo you guys should come to Alaska”.

Little did I know that these guys were all preparing for a mountain adventure to be know as Tailgate Alaska and that it would be publicized on freecaster.tv Not that the publicity would have made a difference but these guys are up there shredding and learning with Mountain Legend Nick Perata. I mean the guy must have over a decade of AK riding under his belt. Stoked to see that this is going good for everyone up there. Wish I could be there. For all the other people that cannot make it up to Tailgate Alaska here are two videos that give you an idea of what is going on there.

This is Tailgate Alaska. Witness the world’s most legendary terrain and the world’s most legendary riders face off again this spring to push the limits of what man and snowboard can accomplish – all from the comfort of your living room.

“Ready” will surprise with a few new additions in the rider line up such as: Kevin Pearce, Scotty Lago, Blair Habenicht, Louie Vito, Markus Keller as well as Bjorn Leines!

Long time Absinthe riders Gigi Rüf, Marc Frank Montoya, Romain de Marchi, Matt Beardmore, Nicolas Müller, Wolle Nyvelt, Jules Reymond, JP Solberg and Mikey LeBlanc will be starring in the movie as well of course and not to forget Annie Boulanger, Jeremy Jones, Chris Coulter, Sylvain Bourbousson and Marco Feichtner.

Absinthe Films is one of the hardest working film crews in snowboarding and continue to make the progressive entertaining snowboard videos.

About Absinthe Films
In 1999 there was an opportunity to establish the first all European snowboard film to register on an international scale. A chance meeting at a San Diego screening, brought together Patrick ‘Brusti’ Armbruster (Onboard Magazine senior photographer) and Justin Hostynek (established film-maker and Snowboarder Magazine senior photographer). The following winter they collaborated on a ‘European rider’ based film, titled ‘Tribal’. Expanding the scope of their projects to include the best riders from both Europe and North America they would go on together to establish Absinthe Films as a leading film production company in the industry and gain unique credibility in the snowboarding scene world-wide. The focus of Absinthe films has always been to present the highest level of progressive snowboarding to it’s audience in a fresh, inclusive and engaging way. Focused on establishing new standards rather than keeping up with pack. Once again these goals have helped to forge an unforgettable snowboard film with this year’s Absinthe Films release ‘Optimistic?’

Tom Burt pushed snowboarding so far.  He is one of the true pioneers of the art and it shows in his riding.  His snowboarding defines the term “timeless”.  He has been doing it since the beginning and has been well documented by the crew at Standard Films.  Check out this short flick by Fuel TV and Standard Films on Tom Burt.

Let It Ride is the story of Craig Kelly. The film basically chronicles his life in order and highlights everything. You really get know the legend and what made him tick in this 90 minute flick. This movie is no joke either. Done in HD and much epic footage is shown and much footage never before seen. The movie is narrated by James Hettfied (yes from Metallica) with Metallica and other ripping tunes. The film has won several awards at the X Dance and Whistler film festivals.

As far as I am concerned he was one of the greatest and most influential riders of all time. From his soulful approach to the sport to helping to modernize and develop the equipment to dominating competition to dropping out of the scene throwing away the money and creating freeriding, to …everything. There is so much Craig accomplished that you have got to go see this movie. There is not a snowboarder alive that is not touched by his influence some how, some way.
