For the past month I have been living with SCOTTYMANGA, and it has been a hell of a time. He is one of the most genuine people I have ever met and looks out for his home boys. I have been sleeping in his living room and he has been 100% ok with that. He also lives with Matt Hutmacher and both of these guys are the shit. Just check out the photos and you can have a little better perspective of what I am saying.

The back yard chicken snacther, this coyote loved coming up to gather food we threw out to him.

The following images show the amount of snow Upstate New York “Oswego” recieved during the month of February. At one point a single storm total reached over 12 feet. You can see the aftermath of accumulation that this lake effect madness left behind. These pictures are the image that a true snowboarder dreams about waking up to each day. A few weeks ago we cruised up to Mexico New York, a town that was supposed to have been hit with the same storm. These pictures prove that not to be true. There was a lot of snow in Mexico, but nothing like this. The images are current.

I remember seeing pictures like this once, it was a record snow year for the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range “Tioga Pass” and the images looked like this. One difference, NY is flat. California has an abundance of rideable terrain.

Enjoy.

Its Dumping in Buffalo?
IM THERE! Got my gear ready and I was out the door, headed to an area that was pronounced in a state of Emergency. I thought. SNOW= EMERGENCY= MY PLAYGROUND! That was in my head during the entire drive to my northern neighbor who just recieved the FIRST SNOW STORM of the EAST COAST. I was stoked to be a part of it. On my way.

I got closer and closer and realized that the snow was beggining to accumulate. I was stoked. I hadn’t realized yet why they were in a state of Emergency, or why their was a BAN on driving. I just kept charging along, looking for rails, drops, whatever I could find to snowboard on.

I got closer into Buffalo and realized, they are in trouble! It wasn’t the amount of snow it was The LEAVES. It snowed so early that the leaves were still on the trees and it got so heavy that it began ripping the trees down. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Trees destroyed, 300,000 people with no power, my sister stuck in her driveway with a tree fallen over it. Her entire yard filled with huge tree branches. I had to pick her up. She had NO POWER! This was an emergency. She hopped in the car with me and we drove around to all of her friends houses to make sure they were OK. During this venture through the destroyed city of Buffalo we saw true devistation. Trees, power lines, people stranded. The beautiful snow that I love so much did so much damage to people. I felt so bad. Hope for a quick recovery Buffalo.

Tuesday October 10, 2006. SNOW!!!!!!! It started lightly snowing last night here in Mammoth. Woke up this morning around 8 a.m. to sound of thunder and lightning looked out the window and thin blanket of white stuff was covering the ground. The actual town got maybe a half inch/inch in some places but was sticking to the road pretty good. Drove up the road to Main Lodge. Right around Chair 4 there was a pretty good 1-2 inches and pretty much the same at Main Lodge. I bet there is more snow at mid and on up top but the mountain was fogged in and you could only see half way up Main Park. Its still lightly snowing and the temp is about 32 at main and around 34-35 in town. Hopefully we will get some more snow today and night. Got to get that ground frozen and base started. Opening day is Thursday November 9th. One Month away.

Snow has finally arrived! Forecasters have been predicting for weeks that it would snow in mammoth. Last night we received a couple inches of snow, but it was mostly from main lodge and up. Its not much, but hey, snow is snow and it’s good enough for me.
