About Absinthe Films
In 1999 there was an opportunity to establish the first all European snowboard film to register on an international scale. A chance meeting at a San Diego screening, brought together Patrick ‘Brusti’ Armbruster (Onboard Magazine senior photographer) and Justin Hostynek (established film-maker and Snowboarder Magazine senior photographer). The following winter they collaborated on a ‘European rider’ based film, titled ‘Tribal’. Expanding the scope of their projects to include the best riders from both Europe and North America they would go on together to establish Absinthe Films as a leading film production company in the industry and gain unique credibility in the snowboarding scene world-wide. The focus of Absinthe films has always been to present the highest level of progressive snowboarding to it’s audience in a fresh, inclusive and engaging way. Focused on establishing new standards rather than keeping up with pack. Once again these goals have helped to forge an unforgettable snowboard film with this year’s Absinthe Films release ‘Optimistic?’
The World Quarterpipe Championships were just as much fun to ride at as they were to make this video. Watch Joe Carter interview Ted Raugh (Ted is like a bull when he straps into his snowboard).
This video is hilarious because
1. Joe is drunk
2. Joe is funny when hes drunk
3. Joe was drinking while on the job

- Lights Out: Mr William Cooley hikes the rail located at, ohh you wish I would tell you that. Rumor has it some Utah crews have already found out about our little spot. We dont mind to share but dont bring the shit show. Billy is a cool kid, gets pissed if you call him certain names, and acts as John Centi’s assistant in the business.
- The Setup: Look at this crew, the setup. Borrowed rope, an Infiniti automobile. John Centi and two accomplices. Just digging into to trouble, but having some serious fun.
- The Attempts: Snowboarding is not easy folks. You will fall on your ass if you try it. Eventually you will try back lips like John Centi. He falls on his ass a lot. Look at that take off. LOL.
- More Attempts: John Centi frontside 270 to switch front board. Landed it a few times, but tried it a couple hundred.
- The Skater: Brandon Moore wants to live in Tampa and skate everyday. Do it man, make the move, but for now he is making those dope stickers he has on his board.
-The Skate Style: Brandon knows how to snowboard too. He got broke off on one of these front board attempts. At least he tried them, and shit not on this one.
- The Assistant and other Skater: Bill Cooley, otherwise known as Mr. William H Cooley. Fucking shreds, backlip, and can bust that shit on a skateboard too.
- The 50-50: Zak getting down on the 50-50
- The Boss: This guy Johnny is the boss, but doesn’t communicate with any of his employees. Hes just running around expecting them to be doing what they were hired to do. What a guy. Nose press.
Absinthe Films and Standard Films are offering their videos for download on I tunes. We are big fans of both of their work and wrote customer reviews on the itunes store.
