Author ArchiveHey guys,
I’ve started a non profit corporation with Sean Shouldis and Steve Wonchowski called the Vernon Skatepark Memorial Association.
The town of Vernon has appoved the idea of us building a skate park and will be donating us an acre of township land to develope the skate park. The next step for us is to file for tax exempt status with the IRS so that we can accept tax deductible donations and not have to pay tax on the donations we recieve. The skate park will be free to use and anyone from any town will be able to use it. We are looking to have Grindline Skatepark & Design company come over from the west coast and build it. We’re looking to raise $500,000- $1,000,0000 for the completion of this concrete paradise.
The park when completed will be one of the best in the Northeast United States. If you’ve got any fundraising ideas I’d love to have any of u guys jump on board. If any of you guys would like to donate or know anyone who would checks or money orders can be made out to the Vernon Skatepark Memorial Association and mailed to PO Box 71 Vernon, NJ 07462.
So far we’ve got a bunch of fundraising ideas such as applying for state and federal grants, bikini car wash, fishing tourney, softaball game/hr contest/tourney, keg parties, ebay auctions, change for change (collecting coins), a golf outing, and you’ll be able to go on vernonskatepark.org
and find out all info and donate online. I’m def open to ideas to.
Thanks everyone. -Pat-
These East coast skateboard kids I get to roll with are dead serious about skateboarding. They come from a little town with a couple bank ramps, brick roads, tons of rain, no real skate spots and where skateboarding is not the popular thing to do. This is skateboarding in small east coast cities and towns. There is a select few skateboarders that will continue to participate no matter the situation or weather but not too many. A majority of these kids hail from the East Coast. The skateboard crew I took to Philadelphia for the Philly Am are a few of these kids. They are the kids that work in the back room of a Snowboard Shop called Suburban Blend and make Snowboard Revolution die cuts for you to tag throughout the world. This group works hard, snowboards hard but skate super hard. Skateboarding in Philadelphia is all its cracked up to be. There are thousands of skate spots, multiple concrete skate parks and a handful of indoor skate parks. It is home to Skateboard mecca Love Park (which today is illegal to skate at) and the infamous FDR skate park. Our first skate day in Philadelphia started at Woodward skate park in the Franklin Mills Mall for the Philly Am. This was about a twelve hour skate session and upon the last heat of the contest we rushed to FDR immediately for a sunset session that lasted late in to the night. We pulled our car into the skatepark and lit up sections of the park by light of the car. After the session at FDR we rushed straight to downtown Philly and made a quick stop at Love park. While there Muska attempted a twelve stair, in the light rain. This day was about a sixteen hour skateboard day and these kids didn’t hesitate, complain or take a simple rest. The next day they woke up and were right back at it. We stayed directly across the street from Philadelphia’s city hall and the guys were up early to skate once again. Billy Cooley ended up getting a $300.00 ticket for skating Love park. He said the cops were brutally rude. After that we all went back to FDR for a day time session just before leaving town. Check out the following photos from the trip..

So we are here in Philadelphia to skate in and shoot the Philly Am. We just rolled into Philly and its 3:24 AM. The event starts at 9 AM. Hope we make it. For all of you that don’t know Love park has become a mecca of skateboarding and one of Philadelphia’s most cherished spaces. Jake Blauvelt is a kid from Vermont. He is so good at snowboarding that he turned pro. Now its not just his life, its his job, too. He is an exemplary young man, with great balance. I have been riding (and following snowboarding) for 20 years, and over all these years I have had a few favorite riders. Farmer, Campos, KJ, Huffman, Rüf and now Jake, positively. Now that I write them down, I wonder what link they share, since they are all such different cats. Anyway, Jake rules, so I got him to do an interview, too. Read a little about him. Snowboard Revolution Buttons are now available at shops worldwide. You will be able to get them online soon. For now find out other ways that you can help your fellow injured riders by hitting shop-revolution on your way out of the internet. Oh and its true that we have bling coming shortly.
Jeremy Jones is one of snowboardings most progressive snowboarders. He is a big mountain snowboard legend and rides lines that will make the average rider shit their pants. He is currently keeping everyone updated on his travels on his website JeremyJones.info
He is one of the best Snowboarders to watch and I think anyone could agree that he is one of the best big mountain snowboarders in the world. Check out his footage from Standard Films.

About Omatic Snowboards Man times have changed from the 50’s. Most of you kids were not even born, maybe your parents hadn’t even been born yet. The following advertisements were pulled from the April 25th issue of Life Magazine, 1955. Hard to believe but there was actually a few attractive ads in the mag. I have a few screen shots for all of you to enjoy, pull inspiration from, or just erase. Its Friday afternoon and I thought this would catch your eye before you duck off from work for the weekend. I notice a lot of vintage advertisements on multiple artists websites but none better used than my friend Aaron Draplin at Draplin.com For everyone looking to enjoy a little Friday Fotoshop
Tags: 1955, April 25, Vintage ads My friend Shayne Pospisil told me the other day that he was driving to Alaska. I said damn you are so lucky, have fun, stay safe. A couple days later my friend Mark Sullivan sent me an email saying “Yo you guys should come to Alaska”. Little did I know that these guys were all preparing for a mountain adventure to be know as Tailgate Alaska and that it would be publicized on freecaster.tv Not that the publicity would have made a difference but these guys are up there shredding and learning with Mountain Legend Nick Perata. I mean the guy must have over a decade of AK riding under his belt. Stoked to see that this is going good for everyone up there. Wish I could be there. For all the other people that cannot make it up to Tailgate Alaska here are two videos that give you an idea of what is going on there. This is Tailgate Alaska. Witness the world’s most legendary terrain and the world’s most legendary riders face off again this spring to push the limits of what man and snowboard can accomplish – all from the comfort of your living room.
